Windyglen Sighthounds
WHIPPETS, TRAINING, CAMPAIGNING

Don has raised and compeated with sighthounds for over 40 years but his favorite sighthound is a greyhound.
Don compeats regularly in WRA, NAWRA,
NOTRA and LGRA racing as well as ASFA lure coursing.   He has raised and trained some top dogs
in all these venues of performance. American Sighthound Field Association (ASFA) and AKC Lure trials Judge.  He was National Director for LGRA and formed a new ASFA club in 2003. Don has been involved in ASFA since its origin and put on the  first Lure Trials in Southern California for both the SCWA and RTG (Rapid Transit Greyhound).   He was also the president of the Southern California Whippet Association.

Moved from Calif and all its restrictions to Oklahoma Windyglen is busy with the Greyhounds, whippets and afghans along with being ride captain for Patriout Guard in SE Oaklahoma.  Its a busy life.
Putting a team of whippets together from your own kennel/breeding and heading off to a National to race is  a favorite yearly event!   In 2003 Don and Lindsey Lobree took 8 Windyglen whippets  and went to the WRA Nationals placing in top honors with Daisy winning the  NOTRA Nationals  on Sunday - thus coined the phrase  TEAM WINDYGLEN
ASFA trials are fun and the sighthounds really excel at this game.   From time to time we set up a small practice field on our acres to qualify dogs for the ASFA trials -  All our dogs enjoy a break from racing but we try not to run to many coursing trials so the dogs dont begin to cheat so much  - Sally and Sturgis with another Best In Field.

Most the time spent on nice days is devoted to the schooling the dogs and
teaching them the ropes of racing and running.  With over 40 years in greyhounds and whippet racing dogs are still his best friend.

Besides working to breed a good moderate size whippet that can still run fast, Don works on encouraging whippet owners to bring their dogs out to race, no matter what their breeding - they all love to run.
